20th Anniversary Celebrations of the Twinship
To mark the 20th anniversary of the Colmar and Princeton twinship, both Princeton and Colmar are in the midst of planning celebrations which will take place a month apart in each of the two cities in late 2007. Official mayoral delegations, along with citizen groups, will be welcomed to their respective sister cities.
In Princeton
From October 27-30, 2007 an official delegation from Colmar city hall and 18 members of Les Amis du Jumelage de Colmar will come to Princeton. On Sunday, October 28th, a gala wine reception will be held in the Community Room of the Princeton Public Library to fete the Colmarians and mark 20 years of friendship. In Colmar
In the spirit of a true twinning, Mayor Mildred Trotman will lead a reciprocal delegation to France, to participate in a return visit to Colmar from November 22-28, 2007 during the 18th “Salon du livre de Colmar”, a major European book fair whose theme this year is “Les Ameriques”. A special exhibit by the Princeton Artists Alliance will be displayed prominently at the Salon du Livre. Featured speakers will include Professor Paul Sigmund and former French Senator, André Maman; both of whom were instrumental in the birth of the sister city relationship. The official opening of les marchés de Noël – the famous open-air markets held from late November until Christmas - will set the stage for experiencing one of Colmar’s most convivial seasons – and holiday shopping opportunities will abound!
